AEEP Forum – 5th edition – 10 November, Vienna, Austria
The Forum will demonstrate how political commitments and existing partnerships are being translated into concrete programmes and investments opportunities in Africa. Discussions will focus on three continental initiatives –  the African Single Electricity Market (AfSEM), the Continental Power Systems Masterplan (CMP) and the African Energy Efficiency Strategy and Action Plan (AfEES) – highlighting their role in strengthening regional electricity markets, expanding interconnections and supporting Africa’s energy transition. The Forum will also showcase related projects and investment opportunities.
The Forum will bring together key African continental and regional stakeholders, including the African Union Commission (AUC), African Energy Commission (AFREC), African Union Development Agency–NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD), regional power pools, electricity utilities and regulatory associations. It will provide a platform for engagement with European institutions, development partners, investors and developers, focusing on strengthening collaboration, mobilising finance, and accelerating project implementation.Â
Discussions will also highlight European contributions to advancing Africa’s energy priorities, through the EU’s Global Gateway Initiative and Continental Energy Program for Africa (CEPA), and the Accelerating the Energy Transition in Africa (ENGAGE) programme, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).

Opening remarks by AEEP, African Union and European Union representatives highlighting the importance of Africa-Europe energy collaboration
Panel discussion led by African Union Commission (AUC)
The African Single Electricity Market (AfSEM) aims to integrate Africa’s electricity systems and markets, for a more interconnected continental power system and increased cross-border electricity trade.
Join us for a panel discussion on accelerating the operationalisation of AfSEM. The session will explore how stronger institutional coordination, aligned regulatory frameworks, cross-border infrastructure, and increased investment can boost electricity trade and energy security across Africa, drawing on the European experience and lessons learnt.
Roundtable discussion led by Africa Energy Commission (AFREC)
Africa’s growing demand for energy-efficient solutions offers significant opportunities for companies, investors and technology providers, including from Europe.
Join us to discover how the African Energy Efficiency Facility (AfEEF)Â aims to unlock this potential by mobilising investment, facilitating access to innovative financing mechanisms and supporting the development of new markets for energy efficiency across the continent.
Africa-Europe roundtable led by AUDA-NEPAD
Africa’s Continental Power Systems Masterplan (CMP) is the roadmap to the development of the infrastructure required to build an integrated electricity market in Africa. An integrated economic corridor approach can help translate CMP’s objectives into concrete investments.
Join us for a roundtable on unlocking the potential of the corridor approach as a catalyst for regional integration and industrial growth. Using the Trans-Kalahari Copperbelt Corridor as an example, discover how connecting renewable energy, power transmission, transport and mining can can offer investment opportunities for the public and private sector.
Project presentations led by AUDA-NEPAD
Join us to discover priority African energy projects with strong investment potential.
Explore how these projects can strengthen regional power trade, enhance energy security, and unlock green industrial development, while connecting directly with project owners, European investors, and finance partners to turn opportunities into action.
Talk to us and our partners for your questions regarding each of the presented projects.
