First Climate Week for MENA Region Aims to Accelerate Collaboration and Integrate Climate Action Towards Global Recovery

The Middle East and North Africa Climate Week (MENACW) will be organised for the first time on 28-31 March, 2022, in Dubai.

The event will build on the outcomes of COP26 and explore resilience against climate risks, the transition to a low-emission economy, uncover areas of collaboration, and integrate climate action into the global pandemic recovery. The event will bring together key stakeholders to exchange on climate action in the region, explore climate challenges and opportunities and showcase ambitious solutions.

On March 31, 11.00 -12.30 (GMT+4), the Africa-EU Energy Partnership’s (AEEP) Head of Secretariat, Johan van den Berg, will participate in the session “Collaboration and Partnerships to Accelerate a Sustainable and Just Energy Transition. The event is part of the main programme under Action Track 3: Seizing Transformation Opportunities.The session is led by the UN Environment Programme and the International Renewable Energy Agency, with support from the UN Economic and Social Commission for West Asia, the International Energy Agency, Sustainable Energy for All and We Mean Business Coalition.

The session will bring together leaders and a regional audience to discuss the role of collaborations and partnerships to accelerate a sustainable and just energy transition in the MENA region and beyond.
