The recently concluded 30th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30) was held in the Brazilian city of Belém from November 10th-21st and was dubbed the ‘COP of Implementation.’ As the sun set in Belém following two weeks of climate-energy dialogue, urgency was translated to unity, and unity led action with the global community coming together. Here we look at some of the key outcomes from COP30.
The Africa EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), in collaboration with AUDA NEPAD, hosted a discussion on Advancing Africa's energy sector through TYIIP and EU's private sector mobilisation during the AU-EU Business Forum in Luanda, Angola on 25 November 2025. The Africa Ten-Year (Energy) Infrastructure Investment Plan (TYIIP) for  Cross-Border Connectivity, a legacy document from the G20 South African presidency, highlights priority energy projects for the continent, in alignment with continental initiatives such as the Continental Power Systems Master Plan (CMP), the African Single Electricity Market (AfSEM), and Mission 300.
AUDA NEPAD, in collaboration with Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), hosted a session on 25 November 2025 at the AU-EU Business Forum (AEBF) in Luanda, Angola to discuss "Enhancing the Bankability of AfSEM-CMP Projects Pipeline" with a panel of experts from African and Europe. To speed up the implementation of priority projects under the Continental Power Systems Masterplan (CMP), the projects will need faster preparation and timely financing.
The 21st AEEP Energy Talks, held on 5 November 2025, unpacked the outcomes of the Second Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) and explored how these can translate into concrete results ahead of COP30. The discussion convened experts from Africa and Europe to examine how political commitments made in Addis Ababa can drive practical measures in energy access, climate finance, green industrialisation, and just transition pathways.
The 21st Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) Energy Talks will debrief the key outcomes of the 2nd Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) and explore their implications for Africa-EU cooperation ahead of COP30. The webinar will open with remarks from Dr Kamugisha Kazaura, Director of Infrastructure & Energy at the African Union Commission, and Mr Gianlucca Azzoni, Head of Policy & Cooperation at the EU Delegation to the African Union.
