As climate change disproportionately affects the African continent and energy access remains a challenge for many, the event aimed to foster a constructive dialogue on achieving sustainable energy access while ensuring climate action. On 8 September 2023, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), in collaboration with Strathmore University and SDG7 Youth Constituency, hosted the side event “Aligning Energy Access and Climate Compatibility in Africa” at the Africa Climate Week (ACW) in Nairobi, Kenya.

On 4 September 2023, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) organised the third edition of the AEEP Forum in-person and online during the Africa Climate Summit (ACS) in Nairobi, Kenya under the theme Building Bridges for Green Growth. The ACS side event brought together high-level African and European stakeholders to discuss the need to future-proof energy systems on both continents and importance of mobilising both public and private sector resources for renewable energy development.
To discuss how to bridge the gap between energy access and climate action in Africa, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) Secretariat is partnersing with Strathmore University and SDG7 Youth Constituency for a side event at the Africa Climate Week, KICC, Nairobi, Kenya, on 8 September, 13:30-14:30 EAT.
The third annual AEEP Forum will be held in Nairobi, Kenya on September 4th from 16:30 - 17:30 EAT at the Kenya International Convention Center (KICC). This event will bring together high level representatives from Africa and Europe to engage in insightful discussion and dialogue on bringing affordable and reliable enegry access across the African continent.
Following the two successful editions of the AEEP Forum, in 2021 and 2022, that attracted over 1200+ participants, the AEEP Secretariat will host the third edition of the AEEP Forum in Nairobi, Kenya (hybrid format) during the Africa Climate Summit from 4-8 September 2023!
