Preceding its 13th Assembly, IRENA hosted a meeting which underlined the planning process to establish an African Continental Power Systems Master Plan (CMP). The meeting was attended by heads of state, ministers, energy decision-makers, multilateral organisations, global stakeholders, and private sector actors. The session concluded that the CMP will lower the cost of energy, create a large energy market, and promote the sharing of energy resources.

On 6 December 2022, the Africa – EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) hosted the eighth AEEP Energy Talks. The webinar's panelists were able to assess and discuss the implications of the COP27 outcomes for the Africa-Europe Partnership.

On 11 November the Africa Initiative on Renewable Energies (AREI), in cooperation with the Pan-African Climate Justice Alliance (PACJA) hosted the event ‘How renewables in Africa support climate change and save the planet’. The AEEP's Head of Secretariat joined the panel and emphasised the synergistic collaboration between the international institutions and all other actors to drive forward a energy transition based on renewable energy solutions.
