The European research programme Horizon 2020 has opened a call for innovation and demonstration projects in the field of energy. Solutions can address a variety of topics relevant to achieving energy access, generation and storage, or energy efficiency in Africa. Grants of €5-10 million are available.
With two new publications, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) investigates the potential role for green hydrogen in the African and European energy transition. A research paper, prepared by the Florence School of Regulation, looks into the technical and political potential for scaling up green hydrogen, while an AEEP Policy Brief explores the unique opportunity for both continents to tie green hydrogen deployment to sustainability frameworks.
The 33rd Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union took place on 9-10th of February in Addis Ababa.
Key recommendations for accelerating investment in the energy sector in Africa and stimulating sustainable growth and job creation were presented to the annual plenary meeting of the Africa-Europe High-Level Platform on Sustainable Energy Investments.
