The 2nd Dakar Financing Summit on 1 – 3 February 2023 under the theme “Maintaining the momentum towards world-class infrastructure in Africa”, calls for the development of world-class infrastructure and the mobilisation of funds from both the private and public sector towards priority regional infrastructure projects.
The Summit is hosted by the Republic of Senegal, the African Union Commission (AUC) and the African Union Development Agency – NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD), in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA).

On 24-28 October 2022, the Power Futures Lab (PFL), at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business (UCT GSB), hosted the short course “Managing Power Sector Reforms and Regulation”. Participants shared their feedback with the AEEP after the course.
The AEEP is supporting the fifth instalment of the Power Futures Lab course on "Managing Power Sector Reforms and Regulations". The programme will equip participants with knowledge to address the challenges in the African power sector.
In September 2022, the AEEP supported SACREEE's Renewable Energy Job Creation workshop. Through the completion of this course, the participants were equipped with innovative ways to pitch their businesses, understanding the importance of donors, and analysing data and information for productive use.
In a new paper, research lead, Peter Twesigye from Power Futures Lab at the University of Cape Town, examines the structural, policy, and regulatory incentives required to improve the performance of African utilities. He concludes that countries where reforms are designed in an inclusive way are more successful in adopting them.
