On 20 October 2021, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) is holding its Forum Aligning Energies for a Green and Prosperous Africa.The half-day event will help to shape the future focus of Africa and Europe’s collaboration on energy and climate.

The programme includes a joint outlook by the African Union Commission and European Commission toward the AU-EU Summit in 2022. During an interactive panel debate and two multi-stakeholder roundtables in English and French, representatives from policy, civil society, youth, women, industry, finance and academia will come together to discuss the future of energy in Africa.

Speakers include H.E. Amani Abou-Zeid, Commissioner for Infrastructure and Energy, African Union Commission, Thomas Huyghebaert, Head of Cooperation, EU Delegation to AU, Rana Adib, Executive Director, REN21 and Johan van den Berg, Head of Secretariat, Africa-EU Energy Partnership.

A Topic Arena will allow participants to network and learn more about African and European initiatives already working towards universal access to sustainable energy. Several themes will be represented, among others: financing energy investment, women as empowered energy actors and building business models for the energy future.
