The 19th AEEP Energy Talks on 7 May 2025 will explore the potential of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives to support green industrialisation and deep decarbonisation of energy intensive industries. As the world strives towards achieving the Paris Agreement and net-zero emissions targets by 2050, new solutions are required to accelerate GHG mitigation efforts in “hard to decarbonize sectors” for instance transport (aviation, shipping) and heavy manufacturing industries (steel, chemicals) which cannot readily be electrified. Green hydrogen provides major opportunities and solutions in the form of e-fuels, energy carriers and feedstock to support green industrialisation.
On 19 March 2025, on the sidelines of the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue and in collaboration with the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Secretariat of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) organised a high-level policymakers’ dialogue to discuss how to improve framework conditions to mobilise funding for energy development in Africa.
This pivotal gathering, under the theme “Accelerating Joint Action for Financing SDG7 in Africa,” underscored the urgent need for innovative financing, increased private sector engagement, and stronger collaboration between Africa and Europe to achieve universal energy access.
As climate change disproportionately affects the African continent and energy access remains a challenge for many, the event aimed to foster a constructive dialogue on achieving sustainable energy access while ensuring climate action. On 8 September 2023, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), in collaboration with Strathmore University and SDG7 Youth Constituency, hosted the side event “Aligning Energy Access and Climate Compatibility in Africa” at the Africa Climate Week (ACW) in Nairobi, Kenya.
On 4 September 2023, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) organised the third edition of the AEEP Forum in-person and online during the Africa Climate Summit (ACS) in Nairobi, Kenya under the theme Building Bridges for Green Growth. The ACS side event brought together high-level African and European stakeholders to discuss the need to future-proof energy systems on both continents and importance of mobilising both public and private sector resources for renewable energy development.
