Meet the Panelists – 21st AEEP Energy Talks: From ACS2 to COP30
The 21st Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) Energy Talks will debrief the key outcomes of the 2nd Africa Climate Summit (ACS2) held from 8–10 September 2025 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and explore their implications for Africa-EU cooperation ahead of COP30.
The webinar will open with remarks from Dr Kamugisha Kazaura, Director of Infrastructure & Energy at the African Union Commission, and Mr Gianlucca Azzoni, Head of Policy & Cooperation at the EU Delegation to the African Union, followed by a presentation from Dr Haruna Gujba, Senior Energy Advisor at the Africa-EU Energy Partnership, highlighting the Summit’s key outcomes.
A panel of four experts from Africa and Europe will then discuss how ACS2 outcomes can guide joint climate and energy action toward COP30:
During the panel discussion moderated by Towela Nyirenda-Jere (Head of Secretariat, AEEP), the speakers will address the following key questions:
1. What were the most significant declarations and commitments from ACS2?
2. How can the Addis Ababa Declaration be translated into concrete policy and projects?
3. How can African nations use the ACS outcomes to collectively advocate for their priorities at upcoming international events?
4. What should we expect from COP30, and how can we ensure that ACS2 outcomes feed into and influence decisions and commitments there?
5. What recommendations would you have for the Africa–EU partnership to support the implementation of the Summit outcomes?
Intended outcomes:
1. Analyse the Summit’s results and build on the momentum generated to set a clear agenda for next steps and follow-up.
2. Establish the link between ACS2 outcomes and common Africa–EU positioning toward COP30.
We invite all interested stakeholders to join us for this timely discussion and contribute to shaping a pathway for stronger Africa–EU cooperation in the energy and climate domain.
