On the sidelines of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Annual Meetings, the African Union Development Agency-NEPAD (AUDA-NEPAD) hosted a partner’s breakfast session titled "The Africa Continental Power Systems Masterplan: A Blueprint for the Africa Single Electricity Market." This event marked a milestone in Africa’s journey towards a unified, sustainable electricity market, essential for the continent's socio-economic transformation.
The African Union Development Agency NEPAD has released their synthesis report on the African Continental Power Systems Masterplan (CMP), quantifying the value of the envisioned continental wide electricity power network.
The report details how current energy development trajectories are inadequate to unlock the continent’s growth potential.
The 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) convened on 17 and 18 February 2024 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, adopting the Africa Single Energy Market with one of its components, the Continental Power System Masterplan (CMP), as an AU Agenda 2063 Flagship Project.
