Fifth Training for Energy Professionals Highlights Ways to Enhance Performance of African Power Sector
Following the success of the previous courses offered by the Power Futures Lab (PFL), the fifth short course on “Managing Power Sector Reforms and Regulation” is organised virtually and in-person on 24-28 October 2022 at the University of Cape Town’s Graduate School of Business (UCT GSB). With the support of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP), the specialised PFL course targets African utility and energy industry experts.
The one-week programme concentrates on the performance and regulatory reforms that are required in the energy industry in Africa. The course content will examine recent research on future utilities and provide participants with a solid foundation in the theory and practice of economic regulation. Additional important subjects include tariffs, investments, and increasing energy access through the grid and beyond.
Dr Martin Rodriguez Pardina and Dr Peter Twesigye will instruct the power sector reform course to equip leaders, managers, and professionals from Africa with the knowledge necessary to address complex challenges and enhancing the performance of the African power sector. The attendees will also be able to apply the course’s principles through a variety of case studies from Africa and prepare for the future where variable renewable energy and distributed resources will play an important role.
