This pivotal gathering, under the theme “Accelerating Joint Action for Financing SDG7 in Africa,” underscored the urgent need for innovative financing, increased private sector engagement, and stronger collaboration between Africa and Europe to achieve universal energy access.
On 26 January 2025, at the sidelines of the Africa Energy Summit where Mission 300 energy compacts were signed, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) organised a high-level dialogue to foster bicontinental partnership. The meeting, hosted in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, focused on “Scaling Energy Investments in Africa – Connecting the Dots to achieve SDG7 Targets”.
The 18th AEEP Energy Talks on 19 February 2025 (11:00-12:30 CET / 13:00-14:30 EAT) will delve into the third edition of the AEEP flagship report on European financial flows on the UN Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG7) to Africa. The webinar will examine current financing trends, pathways to increase financial flows towards clean and affordable energy access, and highlight the critical role of the AU-EU partnership in financing SDG7 in Africa.
The African Union Commission (AUC) organised the Third Extra-Ordinary Specialised Technical Committee (STC) on Transport and Energy virtually on 3-5 December 2024. At the meeting African Ministers discussed and adopted pending issues and strategies on energy and transport. 42 African countries were represented with more than 140 participants, including ministers and other high-level government representatives.
On 27 November 2024 the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) hosted a discussion on “Advancing Africa’s Energy Future – AU-EU collaboration for accelerated financing”.
The discussion was hosted during the 8th Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) Week on 25-28 November in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
