The 17th AEEP Energy Talks on 9 December 2024 (11:00-13:00 CET/13:00-15:00 EAT) will delve into the outcomes from the pivotal climate finance negotiations at COP29 in Baku on 11-22 November. The webinar will examine the critical role of the AU-EU partnership in financing and supporting action to reach the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) in Africa, particularly through energy projects, and thus contributing to the achievement of SDG7. 

The 8th Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA) Week will take place in Addis, Ababa, Ethiopia on 25-29 November 2024 under the theme “Fostering Resilient and Inclusive Infrastructure for Africa’s Sustainable Growth: Leveraging Transformative Financing and Regional Integration”.

The Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr Towela Nyirenda-Jere as the new Head of Secretariat for the partnership, succeeding Mr Johan van den Berg. The official handover took place during the AEEP Steering Group meeting in Addis Ababa on 22 October.

Key discussions will include best practices for project selection, attracting private investment, and ensuring transparent, merit-based procurement to enhance the credibility and sustainability of Africa’s energy sector.
