On 7 September the AEEP Forum 2022 will offer the opportunity to connect and network with key African, European and international experts in the field of climate and energy. The event will offer seven thematic exchanges, virtual exhibitor booths, and one-on-one networking.
On 31 May, 2022, the Florence School of Regulation (FSR), in collaboration with DG ENER, hosted a workshop for the South African energy regulator NERSA. AEEP's Head of Secretariat, Johan van den Berg, provided a global view on the energy transition and on the joint approach between the EU and South Africa.
Our fifth Energy Champion Conversation highlights the work of Rashid Abdallah, the Executive Director of the African Energy Commission (AFREC) at the African Union Commission (AUC). He tells about the challenges and successes of setting up the Geothermal Risk Mitigation Facility (GRMF) for East Africa and his personal motivation for pushing to secure energy for all African people.
In the fourth AEEP Energy Champion Conversation, Olaedo Osoka, Chief Executive Officer (West Africa) at Daystar Power Group, shares how her personal experiences in Nigeria have convinced her about the need and importance of clean energy solutions. She also outlines how each of us have a responsibility to be the voice of the voiceless and how we can drive a just energy transition.
In the third AEEP Energy Champion Conversation we meet Professor Ignacio J. Pérez-Arriaga who tells us about his extensive work for cleaner and more sustainable energy solutions in Europe and Africa. He also reflects on why the challanges of access to energy and a sustainable energy transition require us to think big.
