AEEP Forum 2021 Spotlight – Aligning Energies for a Green and Prosperous Africa

Thriving Political Dialogue

Bonn, Germany – 4 November 2021 – The AEEP Forum 2021 Spotlight summarises the key findings from the AEEP Forum on 20 October 2021. The Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) convened more than 500 stakeholders for a half-day virtual event to discuss and reflect on Africa and Europe’s unique partnership on energy.

Coming shortly after the UN High-Level Dialogue on Energy and in the run-up to the 6th AU-EU Summit, the AEEP Forum invited a broad range of representatives, from the public and private sectors, from academia and civil society, to add their voice to what the energy transition means to them, and how it can secure a green and prosperous future in Africa.

Speakers highlighted that the African energy transition is an “opportunity” for the continent. All contributors agreed on the immense potential the African energy transition provides with regards to job creation, innovation, sustainable mobility, industrialisation, and inclusivity, particularly for women and youth.
