AEEP Energy Talks – An Africa-Europe Perspective on Wind Energy

Knowledge Facilitation Thriving Political Dialogue

On February 17, 2021 (14.00-15.40 CET), the new webinar series “AEEP Energy Talks” continues and this time convenes African and European experts on wind energy.

According to the IEA, Sub-Saharan Africa offers a wind energy potential of 1,300GW. However, to achieve these projections, new policy frameworks are required to engage local communities and raise investments in transmission infrastructure. Moreover, political certainty and continued support is called for to create an enabling business environment for wind energy. Ensuring early access to financing would also reduce projects’ risk exposure, encouraging greater investment.

During the AEEP Energy Talks, Ms Ntombi Ntuli, CEO of the South-African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA); Mr Jon Lezamiz Cortazar, Chairman of the GWEC Africa Task Force and Global Head of Siemens Gamesa; and Mr Ali Zerouali, Cooperation and International Development Director Moroccan Agency for Sustainable Energy (MASEN) will be discussing how the wind sector can take off in Africa.
