The specialised Power Sector Financing course aims to create a capable and experienced workforce which could be a major factor in unlocking further investment in the energy industry.
The one-week course offered by Power Futures Lab, provided participants with a better understanding of the different aspects of financing within the power sector.

The 7th AEEP Energy Talks will take place on March 23rd, and will explore the outcomes of the EU-AU Summit on energy and discuss African and European priorities ahead of COP27. To discuss the road ahead, the upcoming AEEP Energy Talks will host representatives from the AU Commission and the EU Commission to address how the outcomes of the EU-AU Summit can inform African ambitions as we approach COP27.
During the 6th EU-AU Summit in Brussels on 17-18 February the leaders of the African Union (AU) and European Union (EU) committed to a joint vision for a renewed partnership. In the context of the Summit, Team Europe also proposed the Africa-EU Green Energy Initiative. The aim is to support Africa’s green transition in the energy sector.
The 7TH PIDA Week, on 28 February - 4 March 2022, will bring together international and regional stakeholders to discuss “Putting Africa on a firm footing for recovery, growth, and resilience through Infrastructure”. On February 28, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) will participate in PIDA Week to consider the potential of wind against the backdrop of AfSEM and CMP.
In an opinion piece for EURACTIV, AEEP Head of Secretariat Johan van den Berg, explains why Africa and Europe should focus their joint efforts towards harnessing the potential of wind in Africa. Drawing on five key recommendations presented in the AEEP’s policy brief ‘Wind Energy: Joining Forces for an African Lift-Off‘, launched at the EU-Africa Business Forum (EABF) 2022, van den Berg, notes that the challenge to electrify Africa through a much enhanced grid is ,however, as political as it is financial.
