The Nelson Mandela School of Public Governance at the University of Cape Town hosted a webinar on ""The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and Opportunities for Renewable Energy and Industrial Transformation – Series 2". AEEP head of Secretariat, Johan van den Berg, hopes that AfCFTA will enable Africa to have full access to energy, industrialisation, free trade, and climate stability.

Thriving Political Dialogue
To further align on the shared priorities between both continents, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP)  will convene the second edition of the AEEP Forum on  7 September to discuss “Advancing the Green Gateway Between Africa and Europe – The climate-energy nexus and road ahead”. The half-day event will bring together key stakeholders from the energy and climate sectors to discuss how to converge bicontinental energy ambitions through COP27 and beyond.

Thriving Political Dialogue
The African Union Commission (AUC) convened the 2nd STC-TTIIE on the 14th -16th of June to discuss pressing issues regarding the Russia-Ukraine crisis and the upcoming COP27. The meeting made crucial decisions to tackle the impacts of the Russia-Ukraine crisis, and approved a Common African Position on Energy Access and Just Transition ahead of COP27.
