High-level representatives from Africa and Europe discussed the first steps towards a potential joint and values-based Green Hydrogen Roadmap. The exchange was the first in a series of webinars organized by the Secretariat of the Africa-EU Energy Partnership, “AEEP Energy Talks”, which provide a bicontinental platform for experts on transformational energy topics.
On November 12, 2020 (14.00-16.00 CET), the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) kicks-off the new webinar series “AEEP Energy Talks”. The series provides energy experts with a bicontinental platform to exchange insights on emerging energy transition topics.
The European research programme Horizon 2020 has opened a call for innovation and demonstration projects in the field of energy. Solutions can address a variety of topics relevant to achieving energy access, generation and storage, or energy efficiency in Africa. Grants of €5-10 million are available.
With two new publications, the Africa-EU Energy Partnership (AEEP) investigates the potential role for green hydrogen in the African and European energy transition. A research paper, prepared by the Florence School of Regulation, looks into the technical and political potential for scaling up green hydrogen, while an AEEP Policy Brief explores the unique opportunity for both continents to tie green hydrogen deployment to sustainability frameworks.
